*Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne celebrated her engagement in her dad’s rehab room amid his health crisis.
According to E! Online, when her husband, Joe Wooten, proposed in 2023, he moved the proposal to Chicago, where Jamie was recovering at a physical rehabilitation center following a medical issue. The couple celebrated the engagement at Jamie’s bedside.
“When my dad got sick, our plans changed, and we ended up spending our summer in Chicago while he recovered,” Corinne told Vogue. “Little did I know that Joe had changed his plans so he could still propose on the same day—just in a different city. He found a park in Chicago that had cherry blossoms in bloom and proposed there.”
Corinne continued, “He flew in my mom from Los Angeles and had my aunts hiding in a bush FaceTiming my dad the entire time. He even planned a very special post-engagement party in my dad’s room in Chicago. It was a small celebration, but it was so intimate and meaningful.”
We reported earlier that Corinne and Joe married at his home in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Sept. 21, with Jamie walking her down the aisle.
Meanwhile, Foxx took to Instagram on Sept. 2 to announce that he plans to disclose the reason for his hospitalization in April 2023 with a mysterious medical complication. The event titled “WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS,” described as “an unforgettable one-man show,” features Foxx taking the stage “to share his journey through a serious health scare, filled with humor, heart, and inspiration,” according to Foxx’s Instagram post.
“Experience Jamie Foxx like never before in this intimate and engaging performance, as he opens up about his struggles, triumphs, and everything in between,” the post reads. “Get ready for a night of laughter, reflection, and genuine connection.”
Foxx’s one-man show was reportedly held on Oct. 3, 4, and 5 in Atlanta, per the announcement. It was filmed for a Netflix special titled “What Had Happened Was.”
“It was an excruciating time, opening those wounds every single day,” Foxx told CBS Mornings host Gayle King, referring to using his health crisis as material for the shows.
“It was excruciating because the worry is what gets you. Yeah, we’ve got a great show in the room, but we don’t know what they may laugh at, or what they may not laugh at,” Foxx said.
“It’s a personal journey, and I hope I never have to go through this again. My next jokes will start out, ‘Knock, knock!’”
