After Supporting Kamala, Doc Rivers Shares Hope for Trump’s Second Term: ‘I’m Cheering for Him’

*In a recent statement following Donald Trump‘s election victory, Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers has called upon Americans to rally behind their newly elected president. Acknowledging his previous criticisms of Trump, Rivers encouraged unity in hopes of a better future for the country.

“Donald Trump is our president, and we’re going to have to support him. We want him to do the best job for the country at the end of the day,” Rivers stated.

Despite his reservations about Trump’s policies and actions, Rivers expressed optimism about the potential for improvement in Trump’s second term.

“Do I like some of the things that he does? No. But now he’s getting a second chance to be a better president than he was the first time, and I hope he is. I’m cheering for him. I really am.”

Rivers’ comments reflect a desire for a productive political environment despite personal disagreements.

Doc Rivers’ sentiment comes as a surprising turn for a coach who has been an outspoken critic of Trump in the past. Having actively supported Kamala Harris during the election, Rivers participated in several political ads advocating for her candidacy (see Kamala Harris ad above he did V/O for).

“I’ve known Kamala. This is the most involved I’ve ever been in an election, and a lot of it was personal because I’ve known Kamala for over 15 years. I thought she would have been a terrific president.”

However, with over 72 million votes cast for Trump, Rivers acknowledged the reality of the election outcome.

Joining Rivers in this call for unity among NBA figures are well-known coaches like Steve Kerr and Gregg Popovich, as well as Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban, Fox News reports.

Collectively, this group has encouraged fellow citizens to accept Trump’s victory, despite their past partisan critiques. As Rivers reflected on a Trump rally at Madison Square Garden, he voiced concern over the divisive nature of politics and the need for civic engagement.

“When I tell people, if the guy was so great, why did 80 million people vote against him the last time he ran.”

He lamented the state of political discourse and its impact on marginalized communities, indicating a yearning for change.

In a politically charged era, Doc Rivers’ remarks underscore the importance of resilience and cooperation in the face of ideological challenges.

As the nation moves forward, the call for support and positive change remains essential for all Americans.
