*Former NFL star Antonio Brown, who earned over $80 million during his 12-year career, faces potential dismissal of his bankruptcy case due to allegations of failing to disclose key financial information.
Brown initially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May, citing liabilities exceeding $3 million owed to multiple creditors, including a $1.2 million judgment awarded to a truck driver he allegedly assaulted, nearly $970,000 to a jeweler and filmmaker, and additional debts to a marketing firm, a law firm, and a credit card company, WNYT13 reports. Despite his substantial career earnings, Brown reported owning assets worth $50,000 or less.
Brown, 35, allegedly owes millions to at least eight creditors, according to documents filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Florida, the Times Union reports. The seven-time NFL Pro Bowler’s debts include $312,000 owed to a marketing firm, $169,000 to a law firm, and about $83,000 on a credit card, according to WNYT13.
According to The Blast, the court-appointed trustee managing Brown’s Chapter 11 case objected to his proposed repayment plan. Per In Touch, the trustee stated, “[Antonio] has failed to disclose his pre-petition [transfer] of property and his interests in various entities, has not timely or adequately complied with debtor reporting requirements, and cannot establish that his Plan is feasible.”
The trustee claims Brown “appears to be the owner of multiple social media handles … which are estate assets that the debtor failed to disclose on his schedule.”
The filing alleges that Brown did not disclose the transfer of three properties before filing for bankruptcy. He is also accused of failing to submit the required operating reports for September and October 2024 as part of the bankruptcy process.
“[Antonio’s] failure to disclose transactions and report accurate financials evidence that [Antonio] did not propose the Plan in good faith and necessitates denial of confirmation,” the trustee stated
Per The Blast, the trustee told the court, “The financial information disclosed by [Antonio] is contradictory.”
Earlier this year, Brown told DJ Vlad he was considering filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy but maintained that he was financially sound.
