*Anderson .Paak and his pop star wife of 12 years, Jaylyn Chang, are calling it quits.
Paak and Chang tied the knot in 2010 after first meeting while attending the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, where he worked as a teacher’s assistant, according to Daily Mail.
The R&B singer reportedly filed for divorce from the South Korean-American singer (known as Jae Lin), but did not list a separation date, Complex reports.
Paak was previously married, but he told The Breakfast Club that his marriage to Chang was “the one that matters,” as they faced homelessness together, among other challenges.
“She’s the one who came from Korea, didn’t speak [any] English, she’s [the one who has] the balls,” he said.
Paak seeks joint legal and physical custody of their two sons, Soul Rasheed, 11, and Shine Paak, six. His legal team is reportedly working on dividing their assets.
Meanwhile, Paak and his son Soul star together in the singer’s upcoming directorial debut, “K-Pops!”
According to Daily Mail, Paak said the feature was inspired by the “funnier aspects of the experience” of growing up biracial.
‘I wanted to write a movie that would explore that dynamic and those familial relationships. And also, I get to sneak in quality time with my son while shooting,” said Paak, who is of Black and Korean heritage.
“My mom is half-black and half-Korean, so I’m a quarter Korean, but I never knew much about my Korean culture until when I was married to my wife, who is fully Korean,” he said in a 2023 interview with Hypebeast, noting that his two sons “pretty much see themselves as Korean.”
“Raising [biracial] kids, there’s a dynamic of, ‘Alright, you got this side and you got this side,’ and teaching ‘em about both,” he added.
In the same interview, Pak gushed about doing YouTube skits with his son Soul.
“My son was really into YouTube, so I was like, ‘We should do skits,’ because he’s naturally funny and he dances. I started helping him film skits, and then he would help me edit them,” he said.
“It made me want to make a movie with him,” the superstar added.
