*Tory Lanez shared his first message with fans, which was recorded following his transfer to state prison in California.
“Ayo Umbrellas, man, what’s good?” the message starts, with Lanez using his nickname for his fanbase. “I’m talking to you live from prison right now. Man, I’m just happy to get out that bullshit county jail. They was hating on a young fly n***a, you heard? Had me on 24-hour lockdown, half-sized cell by myself. No windows, no mirrors. N***a ain’t even seen himself in a whole year. But with all them disadvantages against me, my head is always been held high, man.”
Lanez claims he is “in great spirits” despite reports that he fears for his life inside North Kern State Prison in Delano, Calif.
As we reported previously, the rapper, 31, is expected to spend three to six months at the medium-security prison before being transferred to a long-term facility to serve the rest of his sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
The Candian-born artist was previously held at Los Angeles County Jail. His new home is said to be riddled with violent inmates, “as multiple murders have happened there just this year,” TMZ writes.

“Tory is scared for his life and safety in prison. He feels like he is an instant and direct target because of his celebrity status,” a source told Page Six.
According to TMZ, Lanez is being held in “Administrative Segregation” due to his celebrity status. He is “escorted to the showers where he bathes by himself,” and, “if he chooses to spend time in the yard, he’ll be the only one in the fenced-off area.”
“He stands in at 5-foot-3, so his size is definitely a setback,” a source shared, Page Six reports.
The insider added: “He is housed with real hardcore criminals, murderers. So he is really hoping that his lawyers will be able to continue to fight for his freedom while still maintaining his innocence. The whole thing is a mess.”
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in August after he was found guilty of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during an argument after a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in Los Angeles in 2020.
