Prajje Oscar Jean-Baptiste On Project Runway Season 20

In the world of fashion, where creativity and competition collide, few platforms have captured the essence of design quite like “Project Runway. Season 20 of this iconic reality show brings a fresh twist by showcasing a select group of accomplished designers from past seasons, including Prajjé Oscar Jean-Baptiste, who made his mark during Season 19.

Jean-Baptiste introduced his uniquely painted garments and avant-garde style in his Season 19 debut. Since then, he has been on a journey to establish himself as a designer with an eponymous label, pushing the boundaries of fashion with intricate and colorful clothing that pays homage to vintage glamour. Inspired by his Haitian roots, his latest collection is a tribute to the elegant women who shaped his upbringing.

Notably, Jean-Baptiste’s work extends beyond fabric and stitching; it embodies a sense of community and cultural recognition. His efforts have recently been acknowledged with the prestigious Best of Philly 2022 Award in the formal designer category. His designs have graced the pages of top publications like Elle, Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam, and Rolling Stone, solidifying his status as a creative force to be reckoned with.

When reflecting on his return for Season 20 and securing a spot among the show’s finalist, Jean-Baptiste exudes a sense of accomplishment and humility. In an exclusive interview with EUR, he stated, “I think the weight of the entire cast makes it even more special to be… what are we now? Six? But, I think it’s because of that; it makes it extra special.”

As the competition evolves, so does Jean-Baptiste’s approach. He speaks of growth between the two seasons, drawing parallels between his experience and the four years of college. “The first time, it’s kind of like going to college…you’ve been down that road before, you made the mistakes before, you know what not to do,” he shared.

Jean-Baptiste navigates the intricate balance of staying true to his unique vision while adhering to the judges’ expectations. “I guess going in, it’s like, do I want to do something that is going to have a great conversation and it’s not me, or do I do me?” He explained, emphasizing the importance of taking risks and accepting the consequences.

Moreover, Jean-Baptiste’s journey isn’t solely about design but connection. Bonding with fellow designers, he speaks of shared respect among the talented group, even amidst the competition. This camaraderie, devoid of unnecessary rivalry, speaks volumes about the maturity and mutual understanding that these designers bring to the table.

In the world of “Project Runway,” where creativity and competition intersect, Jean-Baptiste represents the enduring power of design, culture, and community.
