*The first-degree murder charges have been dropped against Chicago mom Carlishia Hood and her 14-year-old son who shot dead her attacker inside a popular fast-food eatery.

“Prosecutors have dropped all charges against Carlishia Hood and her 14-year-old son in the shooting death of 32-year-old Jeremy Brown, citing a further review of evidence in the case. Cell phone video shows Brown punching Hood three times before the shooting,” a tweet from CBS News Chicago read, per MadameNoire.

The woman and her son were at Maxwell Street Express on June 18 when Hood had a verbal altercation with Brown. He threatened her and repeatedly punched her in the face. Brown’s girlfriend was on the scene and reportedly encouraged his violent behavior.

Hood was able to text her son during the verbal altercation, but by the time he entered Maxwell’s, Brown was physically assaulting his mother. That’s when the teenager shot Brown in the back.

As Brown fled the location, Hood’s son followed him and shot him once more — killing him.

Carlishia’s sister, Darnitrea Wiley, shared footage on social media showing an unhinged Brown screaming at Hood. Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s office dismissed the murder charges, citing ‘emerging evidence’ — such as the video of Brown punching Hood three times before the shooting.

Hood’s sister denies reports that Carlishia told her son to shoot Brown (watch the Twitter video above).

In a post-jail news conference, Hood said she is suing the city and four arresting cops, New York Post reports. Hood’s attorney called the initial murder charge “an obvious rush to judgment.”

“You don’t have to be a lawyer to recognize that when a woman is being violently attacked by a man that she shouldn’t be arrested,” Hood’s lawyer, Brandon Brown, said of his client who was initially held on a $3 million bond, according to The Post.

“The complaint contains counts of malicious prosecution, false arrest and intentional infliction of emotional distress,” the attorney said.

“I’ve experienced pain in many ways — many ways that I would never have thought. Never,” said Hood at Tuesday’s news conference.

“What happened to me was totally unnecessary,” she added.

“Never in a million years would I have imagined being brutally attacked, beaten — and then arrested,” the mom said.

“I just thank God everything was revealed,” she said, calling the incident a “horrible tragedy.”

Hood’s lawyer did not reveal how much she is seeking, according to The Post.
