*Megan Thee Stallion has parted with 1501 Certified Entertainment after a lengthy legal battle that has resulted in a settlement.
According to Complex, Megan “sued the label when her 2021 release Something for Thee Hotties was not counted as an “album” under her deal,” the outlet writes. Now, both parties are set to “amicably part ways.”
In a statement shared with Rolling Stone, a 1501 spokesperson said a “confidential settlement” had been reached between the two parties, thus bringing to an end a situation that has partially played out in the press since 2020.
“As part of the arrangement, both parties have agreed to amicably part ways,” the spokesperson told the publication, adding that both sides were “pleased to put this matter them and move forward with the next chapter of their respective businesses.”
We reported previously that Megan Thee Stallion had been embattled with her former record label since 2019 and earlier this year she claimed the company was draining its bank accounts to avoid paying her.
The hip-hop star filed a motion on April 13 claiming label CEO Carl Crawford is taking the money that should be allocated to her, according to documents obtained by TMZ. Her initial lawsuit accused 1501 of blocking her from releasing music and refusing to renegotiate her contract, according to Hip Hop DX.
Most recently, Megan revealed in an Instagram Live session that she was on “no label” at the moment.
“I have no label right now and we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pockets,” she told fans, Complex reports.
