*Actor Grantham Cole tells EUR that he’s “excited to join” the Power-verse as “Ronnie” for the third season “Raising Kanan.”
“I’m excited to be a part of the story,” Cole said in our exclusive interview with the rising star. “I think people will definitely enjoy this season of Raising Kanan.”
The third season of “Power Book III: Raising Kanan” kicked off December 1, and series star MeKai Curtis previously revealed to EUR that his character will “attempt to rebuild that in a certain way, but with a new spin.”
“He’s going to have to deal with obstacles and re-directions and truth that he didn’t see coming and truth that he did see coming,” Curtis said of Kanan.
“It is all about how he puts one foot in front of the other and keeps his mind on his ultimate goal of finding the truth, which is finding who he’s right now,” the actor continued, adding, “because his sense of self and his sense of the world has been shaken up, jumbled and destroyed in the last two seasons.”
“Raising Canan tells the origin story of fan-favorite character Kanan Stark (Curtis), originally played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the flagship series. According to the series synopsis: “This season delves further into his evolution from the devoted son of Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller) into the eventual ferocious, amoral and pragmatic personality fans know from ‘Power.’”
“Season three picks up where we left off, in Southside Jamaica Queens with the Thomas family in turmoil and reeling from the Mob’s coordinated attack on Raquel, Marvin, and Lou-Lou.”
The synopsis continues: “After her close call, Raquel is looking to make a fresh start, but Kanan doesn’t trust her or believe it when she says she’s done. Can she be out of the game?”
Joey Bada$$ (who portrays “Unique” on the show) said he’s “definitely excited for people to see the way Grantham portrays Ronnie’s character because I think he adds a whole new element and layer to this show,” he told EUR exclusively.
Ronnie is Unique’s older brother, recently released from prison, whose “stoic demeanor belies a shocking ruthlessness,” per the news release.
“There’s nobody in the universe who’s like him,” Joey said, “and I think that it’s going to catch a lot of people off guard. I know for sure I didn’t think that this is what Unique’s older brother would look like or would be like, you know what I’m saying?”
