*Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife Siohvaughn probably never expected to one day be fighting him over their son’s alleged gender identity issues — but here we are.

We reported previously that Wade filed a motion to legally change the name and gender of his 15-year-old child who was born a boy name Zion. In his petition, Dwyane reportedly claims he has the “full authority” to “make decisions on behalf of” the minor. Back in 2011, he was awarded primary custody of his 2 children with Siohvaughn.

At age 12, Zion came out as gay and embarked on a journey as a transgender female who now goes by the name of Zaya. The teenager has since landed lucrative modeling contracts with brands like Tiffany and Dove.

According to The Blast, Wade has submitted legal documents requesting the teen’s name be legally changed from Zion Malachi Airamis Wade to Zaya Malachi Airamis Wade.

Wade’s ex-wife is accusing the retired NBA star of exploiting their child for financial gain. As reported by The Blast, Siohvaughn is begging a court to prohibit the teenager from changing the name and gender listed on the birth certificate.  As RadarOnline.com reports, Siohvaughn is using a 2011 divorce agreement that she believes will help win her case.

“I have concerns that (Dwyane) may be pressuring our child to move forward with the name and gender change in order to capitalize on the financial opportunities that he has received from companies,” Siohvaughn reportedly said in her legal filing.

Siohvaughn claims she had a conversation with Wade during which he allegedly admitted: “that a lot of money had been already made and that additional money will be made in relation to our child’s name and gender issue.”

Siohvaughn claims the divorce agreement requires Dwyane to obtain her approval when it comes to decisions on Zaya’s health. According to RadarOnline.com, the agreement has a provision that makes clear Dwyane must seek input from his ex about “the major decisions affecting the care, welfare, activities, health, education, and religious upbringing of their two children.” The agreement does not state he needs permission from Siohvaughn.

The agreement, per Radar, also notes that Dwyane has to keep Zaya’s mother informed about “all doctors, nurses, health care providers, and mental health providers treating the minor children whether on a continuing basis or in connection with an isolated issue.”

The agreement reportedly does not state that Wade has to get approval from her for medical decisions related to their children.

Dwyane and Siohvaughn are scheduled to face off in court later this month.
