*Disney released images of Princess Tiana’s new costume as part of the upcoming ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is replacing the Splash Mountain attraction.
“JUST REVEALED ???? Princess Tiana is dressed for a bayou adventure! A first glimpse of Tiana’s new look spotted at ESSENCE Fest in New Orleans. Princess Tiana, still in her royal gown ???? ????, awaits your visit today! ???? ???? ????,” Disney shared on social media alongside the photo, The Blast reports.
In the image, Princess Tiana is dressed down (in style) for the bayou instead of rocking her iconic green dress — see above.
As comicbook.com reports, Splash Mountain is being replaced with an attraction based on the hit Disney film “The Princess and the Frog” at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. A TikTok from Disney World shows an Imagineer working on the ride that will open to the public in 2024.
“We’re here at Magic Kingdom installing the brand new water tower, which marks the start of the exterior transformation of our attraction,” the Imagineer says in the video (see below), comicbook.com reports. “It’s a super big day for us, because this is our biggest and most guest-facing piece of show set that we’ve installed thus far. Tiana’s taken this old salt dome and this water tower that was already here, and she’s made it her own.”

“One of my favorite parts is those two stars on top. If you just look at it, they just look like little sparkles on the crown, but really they represent Ray and Evangeline in the film. And they represent Tiana wishing on stars and making those dreams come true,” the Imagineer continues. “Tiana herself is an incredible role model for me and for a lot of young women, because she’s incredibly career-focused and career-driven, and I think that makes her really unique within all of our princess. It makes her an important and exciting character to bring to Magic Kingdom.”
EUR reported previously that the French Market Restaurant at Disneyland Park will be re-imagined into Tiana’s Palace. Inspired by Tiana’s friends and adventures, the quick-service restaurant’s menu will offer authentic New Orleans flavors – expanding on current favorites in the location and exploring seasonal flavors. While Tiana’s Palace is not a character dining location, guests may find Tiana in New Orleans Square.
Disney Parks reported that the new ride will pick up where the 2009 film left off, showing Princess Tiana’s life after her restaurant debut and marrying Prince Naveen.
Per Disney Parks Blog, “Walt Disney Imagineering is creating an original, next chapter story for Tiana. Within the attraction queue, guests will discover that she continues to grow her business with Tiana’s Foods – an employee-owned cooperative. Combining her talents with those of the local community, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand.”
