*We caught up with Raymond Lee, Ernie Hudson, and Caitlin Bassett to dish about the series reboot of “Quantum Leap” which premieres Monday, September 19 at 10 p.m. ET / PT on NBC, and streaming the next day on Peacock.

“It’s been nearly 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the Quantum Leap accelerator and vanished. Now, a new team, led by their physicist Ben Song (Lee), has been assembled to restart the project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it,” per the synopsis.

“But everything changes when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving our team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it,” the synopsis continued. “At Ben’s side throughout his leaps is Addison (Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She’s a decorated Army veteran who brings level-headed precision to her job.”

Ernie Hudson also stars as the helm of the “highly confidential operation, Herbert “Magic” Williams, a no-nonsense, career military man, who has to answer to his military bosses who will not be happy once they learn about the breach of protocol.”

“Herbert Magic Williams is an ex-Navy SEAL, he’s a lifelong military man, heard about this project, and worked very hard to get it up and running and to be the head of it,” Hudsons said of his character in our exclusive interview with the series stars. “He believes in the potential of what it could do. And he’s assembled this amazing group of people headed by Dr. Ben Song, who for some unknown reason has decided to leap without permission and letting anyone know. And that creates all kinds of problems because Magic is responsible for all of this, a lot of people are depending on it and he has to make it all make sense, and we don’t know how it’s going to come out.”

Hudson added, “Plus he was very committed to seeing Sam from the original project be brought back. Now we have the issue of trying to get Dr. Ben back as well. So there’s a lot on his shoulders, but what I love about the character is he can be authoritative, but he also has humanity and he really cares about these people. So it’s a lot of just fun dimensions to play in and I love this character and it’s a great group of people to work with, but that’s where magic is.”

Said Lee of the new series, “Well, it’s 2022 and a lot of advancements in the technological field have been made. So I think it’s going to be very exciting to see what the headquarters looks like, what the new imagining of what Ziggy might look like and feel like, and the kind of information that’s going to be available to us in that way,” he explained.

“And also, a lot of time has passed since then, which means a lot of history as we’ve written since then. So there’s going to be fun to leap back into near futures and further into that time that the original Quantum Leap didn’t cover. It’s also an accelerated show, so I think audiences will be surprised at the pace in which the show decides to move at,” Lee added.
