Netflix Drops First Look Preview of Meghan and Harry’s New Series | Watch

*Netflix has released a trailer for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new documentary series, which the streaming giant said is “coming soon”.

“No-one sees what is happening behind closed doors. I had to do everything I could do protect my family,” Prince Harry is heard saying in the preview to the series simply titled “Harry & Meghan.” The trailer also features never before seen pictures of the royal couple including clips of the Duchess of Sussex crying. 

“When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?” Meghan is heard saying in the trailer as part of her interview for the project. 

Per The Mirror, a Netflix spokesman said: “In an unprecedented and in-depth documentary series, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex share the other side of their high-profile love story.

“Across six episodes, the series explores the clandestine days of their early courtship and the challenges that led to them feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution,” the spokesperson continued. 

“With commentary from friends and family, most of whom have never spoken publicly before about what they witnessed, and historians who discuss the state of the British Commonwealth today and the royal family’s relationship with the press, the series does more than illuminate one couple’s love story, it paints a picture of our world and how we treat each other,” the statement continued.

“From the critically-acclaimed, two-time Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director Liz Garbus, Harry & Meghan is a never-before-seen look at one of the most-discussed couples in history,” Netflix said. 

The series announcement comes ahead of the January release of Prince Harry’s highly anticipated memoir titled “Spare.”

Publisher Penguin Random House confirmed that the title of the book derives from “the heir and the spare” adage, per PEOPLE. Harry said proceeds from the book will be donated to charity.

Per PEOPLE, the publisher said “Spare” takes “readers immediately back to one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror.”

“As Diana, Princess of Wales was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling — and how their lives would play out from that point on,” Penguin Random House said.

The memoir is set to be released on January 10, 2023.
