*He’s not exactly a household name … yet. However, rapper AK has come for Kendrick Lamar and accused him of plagiarizing the concept for his latest videoThe Heart Part 5.” The New Jersey-based rhymer is insisting that Lamar took the deepfake idea from his 2020 video “Family Tree.” Don’t believe him? Well then, scroll down and compare the two vids.

If you’re not familiar, “Family Tree” features AK morphing his face into Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and coincidentally, Lamar himself. Lamar must have been so impressed with the video because he uses the same concept in “The Heart Part 5,” where he first morphs into Will Smith, then Jussie Smollett, then Kobe Bryant, and finally Nipsey Hussle.

“Maybe I’m fooling myself for thinking that Kendrick saw my video and was like, ‘Damn, that’s so good that I want to do it myself,’” said AK in an Instagram video.

“I was under Universal; he is under Universal. I did that video in 2020 with Universal. Obviously, the song didn’t do as good as if Kendrick was to do it, but the concept was so sick and I f*cking don’t know, but it’s the same exact thing — it’s a backdrop, it’s him in front of it, it’s one take.”

Towards the end of the video, AK laments about the challenges independent artists have to go through. He says many such artists have come out over the years to accuse heavyweight artists of stealing their ideas. Kendrick Lamar is not likely to respond to this outcry by a “small artist.”
