*Trina hit up Trick Daddy’s 99 Jamz Radio on Thursday to clarify what she meant when she referred to protesters as “animals.”
We previously reported, the rapper pissed people off to the high heavens for comments made about rioting and looting during George Floyd protests.
Trina said police should ” get these animals off the streets,” referencing the people who were cutting up during the protests. But that didn’t sit well with many on Twitter who was shocked by her comments.
She attempted to backtrack on her comments during her conversation with her longtime partner in the music biz, Complex reports.

“Me, in my Trina’s world, I’m automatically speaking for black people,” Trina told Trick on his radio show. “I am black people, that’s who I’m speaking for, so I’m not gonna say ‘black people are animals.’ I’m not talking to the protestors or those that are trying to make change. “
She added, “And this is why, the day after when we spoke to the commissioner, I said to Trick, ‘Well, I learned a lot more about what’s really happening,’ because I’m trying to get what’s the solution, what is the answer to everything that is happening.”
Trina also addressed calling protestors “animal”.
“I would never say that, or call black people animals or any names. I am a black person, I must be an animal, I must be this same person. I mean, that’s not who I am.”
When the topic came up earlier this week, the hip-hop star said “They need to make the curfew at 6 p.m. Keep everybody off the street, these animals off the streets, that are running around in Miami-Dade County acting like they have escaped from a zoo. Lock them up at 5 p.m. so the streets can be nice and clean, that’s how I feel.”
Meanwhile, some Twitter users aren’t buying her apology. One commenter noted, “Trina knew what she said. Brees knew what he said. They meant every word. How can they understand something in less than 24 hours that they couldn’t grasp in 20+ years of being adults?”
