*In the midst of awards season comes news that the 2020 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees have been announced. One of them is Mariah Carey.

“I can’t believe it… The SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME!!!! This is truly one of the greatest honors of my career. I’m so proud and humbled to be in the company of such legendary songwriters – both previously inducted as well as the incredible class of 2020! @SongwritersHOF,” the singer/songwriter wrote on Twitter.

Along with Carey, other 2020 inductees include Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo of The Neptunes, The Isley Brothers, Rick Nowels,  Eurythmics, Steve Miller, and Motown songwriter Mickey Stevenson. This year’s class of artists and songwriters will be officially inducted on June 11 during a ceremony at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

“The first thing you need to know is it’s about the song, the second thing you need to know is it’s about the song, the third thing you need to know is it’s about the song,” Songwriters Hall of Fame chairman Nile Rodgers said in a statement. “I am very proud that we are recognizing some of the culturally most important songwriters of all time and that the 2020 slate of inductees represents diversity and unity across genres, ethnicity and gender, writers who have enriched our lives and in their time literally transformed music and helped make it what it is today.”
