*The 2020 Golden Globes Awards have been announced early this Monday morning in Beverly Hills and as expected Netflix (with 17 total nominees) and HBO (15) dominated.
While Netflix may be the gorilla in the room with the most noms, it didn’t matter when it came to their much-ballyhooed series “When They See Us” by director Ava DuVernay. It got diddly. Nada. Nothing. 🙁
Another show with a lot of buzz, but nothing in the awards arena is Regina King’s “Watchmen” on HBO. Well, guess what, the Golden Globes doesn’t care ’cause they gave it zero noms, too.
Lastly, we can’t forget HBO’s “Euphoria.” Maybe the series was a dark horse in the Best Drama category, but Zendaya has long been considered a frontrunner for her universally commended turn.
Oh well, if it’s any consolation, the final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones only netted one nod.
Meanwhile, NBC will broadcast this year’s Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, with Ricky Gervais returning to host, for a fifth time.
