*Poor, poor R. Kelly. He’s obviously is super denial regarding his personal actions that have put him in the proverbial spotlight as far as his ill advised actions towards women. The singer is claiming the media is trying to distort and destroy his legacy by reporting allegations that he sexually mistreats women.
In a statement he issued on Friday, he says he’s “heartbroken” by the accusations.
Calling himself “a God-fearing man, a son, a brother, and most importantly a father,” Kelly says the media “has dissected and manipulated these false allegations.”
It’s worth noting that Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges in Chicago in 2008, but speculation about his alleged sexual misconduct has continued. Last month, the #MuteRKelly campaign was launched, reports the AP.
Interestingly, for all the allegations, as far as we know, he’s not currently not the subject of any criminal investigations.
Kelly says the accusations “perpetuated by the media” are an “attempt to distort my character and to destroy my legacy that I have worked so hard to build.”
OK, having said that Mr. Kelly, just today, two more women have come forward with harrowing allegations against you, including one who claims she was underage when you and her had sex during the mid-1990s.
Buzzfeed is reporting that Lizette Martinez told them she was just 17 years old when she lost her virginity to Kelly, even though she says he was aware of her age. She claims he went on to physically abuse her multiple times during their relationship and pressured her into sex acts against her will, according to the report.
Martinez says Kelly, now 51, initially showed interest in helping her with her aspiring singing career after meeting in Miami, but they never completed any music together.
“The first time I had sex with him there was a party going,” she told Buzzfeed. “Some of his crew gave me alcohol and I was drunk basically when we had sex.”
Martinez claims Kelly was 28 at the time. She says she’d previously told Kelly she was 17 during a dinner at an Outback steakhouse, and that they had sex within a month of meeting.
The other woman in the Buzzfeed report (who is only identified as Michelle) claims she has a 27-year-old daughter who is currently living with Kelly. She described her daughter, identified in the report as “N.,” as being “brainwashed” and part of Kelly’s alleged “cult,” and says she hasn’t spoken to her in three months.
“I don’t know what hold he has on her, but her last words to me was, ‘Don’t ever give up on me,'” Michelle, who lives in Chicago, told Buzzfeed.
Lawd have mercy. This R. Kelly mess just keeps getting messier by the day. Here’s some advice Mr. Kelly. The best way to keep the media yo’ name out of the media in a negative light is to NOT give women a reason to make accusations. It’s just that simple.
