the real crew - 01-29-18

*On Monday, January 29, the ladies of “The Real” discuss the moments that stood out from last nights’ Grammy Awards, as well as their feelings about Jay-Z’s interview with CNN’s Van Jones that got everyone’s attention this weekend.

Co-host Loni Love talks about while Jay-Z was very open about how he and wife Beyoncé were able to save their marriage, sometimes it’s best not to hold on if the other person wants out of the relationship.

Jay-Z’s Interview and Why Not All Marriages Should Be Saved

Adrienne Is Beyond Excited For The New West Side Story Remake

Jay-Z’s Interview and Why Not All Marriages Should Be Saved

Loni Love: What I appreciated about Jay-C what he did, Jay-Z – it’s early, y’all –

Tamera Mowry-Housley: Yes. Monday!

Loni: Is that he – he was very vulnerable…

Jeannie Mai: Yeah.

Loni: And he also shows that marriage is not easy. And that it’s not something that you just fall head into, and I appreciate that. Also, I think that he showed that, um… what I got from it is that they were able to fight and save their marriage because both of them wanted to. When you’re in a marriage –

[The Real audience applauds]

Loni: – and one person doesn’t want to save it? Or, cause like with me, I didn’t want to be married. It’s nothing that my ex-husband could have done to save it. Because I was ready to get out.

Jeanne: Yeah.

Loni: So I think you know, because, I don’t want people to get the message that, “I’ve got to stay in my marriage too!” Loo, if somebody want to get out of that marriage, let that person go.

Jeannie: Yes.

Loni: Because you will have a better life, and they will have a better life. Just find something to get –

Adrienne Houghton:  Yeah, why would you want to be with someone who doesn’t want to be with you?

Loni: But because some people get caught up with the “We got married, we got vows, we gotta hang in there, we gotta stay there,” but if one person – it takes two people to be in that marriage, if one person doesn’t want to be, you gotta let that person go. And that’s just – that’s what I got from the conversation.
