Michelle Obama Reveals She Conceived Sasha and Malia Using IVF [WATCH]

*Former first lady Michelle Obama spoke to ABC’s “Good Morning America,” ahead of the Tuesday release of her highly anticipated memoir “Becoming,” and she revealed that she used IVF to conceive her daughters.

“I felt like I failed because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were because we don’t talk about them,” Mrs. Obama said in an interview Friday with Robin Roberts — check out the video above. ″We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken.”

Obama, 54, said she and Barack underwent fertilization treatments to conceive daughters Sasha and Malia, now 17 and 20.

She’s hoping that by sharing her story, other women don’t feel “lost and alone” like she did.

“That’s one of the reasons why I think it’s important to talk to young mothers about the fact that miscarriages happen and the biological clock is real because egg production is limited — I realized that as I was 34 and 35, and we had to do IVF,” she tells Roberts. “I think it’s the worst thing we do to each other as women: not share the truth about our bodies and how they work and how they don’t work.”

As we previously reported, in her much-anticipated memoir, Obama heavily criticizes Trump and says he jeopardized her family’s safety by propagating the false ‘birther’ conspiracy theory.

“The whole [birther] thing was crazy and mean-spirited, of course, its underlying bigotry and xenophobia hardly concealed. But it was also dangerous, deliberately meant to stir up the wingnuts and kooks,” she writes. “What if someone with an unstable mind loaded a gun and drove to Washington? What if that person went looking for our girls? Donald Trump, with his loud and reckless innuendos, was putting my family’s safety at risk. And for this I’d never forgive him.”

The Washington Post obtained an early copy of “Becoming” and notes that Obama writes candidly about the early struggles in her marriage to Barack as he began his political career and was often away.

Michelle Obama launches her promotional tour this month at Chicago’s United Center. Then the tour will move on to Los Angeles, Washington, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, Detroit, Denver, San Francisco and Dallas. Ten percent of tickets at each event are reportedly being donated to local charities, schools and community groups.

Meanwhile, Becoming Michelle: A First Lady’s Journey with Robin Roberts” airs on Sunday (9 p.m. ET) on ABC.
