Lil Wayne Bout to Get Paid! He Scores Settlement with Birdman & Universal; J Prince Chimes in (WATCH)

*Welp! We guess we should give it up to Lil Wayne. It took a while, but he’s finally won his legal battle with Birdman, Cash Money and Universal Music Group. Dude just got a settlement that’s worth a LOT of zeros.

And that means “Tha Carter V” isn’t far behind.

According to court documents, Wayne’s attorney, Howard King, filed a notice with the court on May 23 that all sides are ready to dismiss the lawsuit.

Sources say Universal settled the matter by writing a check for “well over $10 million” and it didn’t include any of Birdman’s money. So, does that mean Birdman has no say so in Wayne’s career going forward? (Keep reading.)

In any event, Universal supposedly doesn’t have a problem the big payout because they believe they will recoup the profits from Drake and Nicki Minaj going forward — a major part of what Wayne was suing over, reports TheBlast.

And now to answer our question about Birdman and Cash Money being involved with Lil Wayne, as part of the arrangement, Weezy is now officially no longer affiliated with Cash Money and the infamous “Tha Carter V” album will now be put out by Universal.

As we’ve reported for quite some time, Lil Wayne originally sued Cash Money Records, to have his record deal voided. He accused the label of owing him tens of millions of dollars, including an $8 million advance for “Tha Carter V,” plus $2 million once the album was finished.

Here’s more interesting news about Wayne and Birdman. Even though the two were seen hanging out together a few times back in March, the two were still “very hostile” towards each other and there is “no relationship” between them.
