*The ex-husband of comedian/actress Tiffany Haddish is suing her for defamation after she claimed in her best-selling memoir that he abused her.

According to TMZWilliam Stewart has filed the lawsuit over her allegations of domestic violence in the 2017 memoir, “The Last Black Unicorn.”  Stewart is gunning for his ex-wife, the book’s co-author Tucker Max, and the publisher Simon & Schuster for libel, slander, and defamation.

In the book, Haddish details how he was physically violent towards her during their marriage. She also claims that her ex-husband, who isn’t named in the book, may have caused the death of their unborn child.

“For the defendants’ own profit, they painted my clients as abusers in a best-selling book. After a thorough review of the facts and evidence, we know that the assertions made by the defendants about my clients in The Last Black Unicorn are patently untrue,” Stewart’s attorney Michael Sterling told TMZ.

Haddish and Stewart were married for five years after first tying the knot in 2008. Stewart denies all the allegations of violence and says that they lost the baby because Haddish had an abortion.

“Powerful people and influential corporations can’t intentionally and recklessly destroy someone’s reputation with malicious lies for their own profit,” the lawyer, Sterling, said. “After exhausting our ability to solve this matter privately, we have been left with no choice, but to seek legal recourse. We look forward to our day in court.”

Stewart is asking for more than $1 million in damages.
