*Whatever Donald Glover is doing, he needs to bottle it and sell it. Dude just keeps coming up big.
Glover, the creator and star of the FX series “Atlanta,” won the award for Best Directing for a Comedy Series at the 2017 Emmy Awards Sunday night.
Believe it or not, the win makes him the first African American to win in that category. Wow, wrap your head around that for a moment.
“This really beyonds to Hiro Murai,” Donald said, thanking his co-director. “He taught me everything about directing. He had the eye for this show and he’s just amazing. I really want to give this to Hiro and just say ‘I love you and thank you for being my best friend.’”
Glover was nominated and won for directing the 6th episode of “Atlanta” called “B.A.N.” where Paper Boi was a guest on a talk show.
The multi-talented Glover is also the first director to win for a show he acted in since Alan Alda won for “M*A*S*H” in 1977.
The actor thanked his parents, who he brought with him, his brother, FX, and his best friend Hiro Murai who he says taught him everything about directing.
Also getting lots of attention was Issa Rae, the star and creator of HBO’s “Insecure” for honestly answering a question that’s has gone viral.
She was asked who she was rooting for to win at this year’s Emmy Awards, despite”Insecure” being snubbed. Her interesting response was ..,
“I’m rooting for everybody black. I am!”
Watch it above.
