*Katt Williams is in the middle of another chapter of drama as he was arrested Monday (Feb. 29) after police received word that he punched a store employee in Georgia.
Speaking with the Associated Press, Sgt. Kevin Holbrook revealed the arrest came after Gainesville police officers responded to an assault call at a pool supply store around 11:30 a.m, Page Six reports. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found Williams outside “lying on the ground with his hands behind his back as though he was ready to go to jail.”
Holbrook goes on to say that a store employee told authorities that Williams was in the store with two women, arguing with the employee and threw a pair of goggles at him. From there, Williams went behind the counter and punched the employee at least once, Holbrook stated.
The AP noted that Gainesville is located about 55 miles northeast of Atlanta, adding that Williams was arrested and charged with battery. The comedian was booked into jail at 1:34 p.m., according to online jail records.
In an email to the AP, Hall County sheriff’s Deputy Nicole Bailes stated that Williams faces a misdemeanor battery charge and was being held on $5,000 bond.
