Ronda Rousey Throws Shade at Mayweather After Winning ESPY Award

ronda-rousey-floyd-mayweather*Ronda Rousey has no problem bringing up Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in a conversation. In this case, the conversation was had with a wide audience as she mentioned the boxing champ after accepting an award at this year’s ESPYS.

The Huffington Post reports that Rousey put Mayweather’s history of domestic abuse against women on blast Wednesday night (July 15) after winning the ESPY for “Best Fighter.”

“I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once,” said the UFC women’s bantamweight champion. “I’d like for him to pretend to not know who I am now.”

Rousey’s shade toward Mayweather, who has been found guilty of beating four separate women, comes after the boxer once pretended to not know who she was., despite her being one of the most famous and dominant fighters in the world, the Post noted.

And now some words for Mayweather, courtesy of the late, great Notorious B.I.G.: If you don’t know, now you know.

In other Mayweather news, the Undefeated welterweight world champion is gearing up to fight fellow welterweight Andre Berto on Sept. 12, according to Michael Woods of the Sweet Science, which mentioned that no confirmation has been made from the Mayweather or Berto camps at this time.

Andre BertoIFWT references the report while stating that the fight will air on CBS, with Mayweather (48-0, 26 KOs) slated to take home his usual purse, which will be around $30-35 million.

For those who were less than thrilled with over paying upwards of $99 to see Mayweather’s much-hyped fight against Manny Pacquiao on pay-per-view, the reported bout with Berto is being marketed as a “give back” to fans.

The Mayweather bout with Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) will ultimately be the champion’s last in the lucrative six-fight deal with Showtime/CBS that he signed in 2013, IFWT reports while pointing out that Mayweather has won his previous five fights by decision.

As for Berto, his last fight took place in March as he ultimately won the interim WBA Welterweight title via a sixth-round TKO over Josesito Lopez. The 31-year-old athlete is 3-3 in his last six fights.
