*This February, Apple TV gathered the cast of “Widow’s Bay” to share their thoughts on the new series.
“Widow’s Bay” is a quaint island town 40 miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community. There’s no Wi-Fi, spotty cellular reception and he must contend with superstitious locals who believe their island is cursed.
He wants these people to respect him. They don’t. They think he is soft and cowardly. And he is. But Loftis is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a tourist destination. Miraculously, he succeeds tourists are finally coming. Unfortunately, the locals were right. After decades of calm, the old stories that seemed too ludicrous to be true start happening again.
“I’m excited,” explained Rhys about what he hopes people say about the first season. “When I first read it, I kept saying aloud, ‘God, I’ve never read anything like this.’ I hope people have the same experience, ‘going, my God, I’ve never seen anything like that.’ I’m hoping it’s the same reaction I had when I first read it.”
The 10-episode series will make its global debut on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, with the first three episodes, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through June 17, 2026, on Apple TV.
Rhys, who also serves as executive producer, stars alongside an ensemble cast led by Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kingston Rumi Southwick, Kevin Carroll and Dale Dickey.
“Widow’s Bay” hails from creator Katie Dippold and is directed and executive produced by Emmy Award winner Hiro Murai through his banner Chum Films.
