*Kraft is taking boxed macaroni and cheese in a bold new direction with the debut of its Pizza Mac & Cheese.
The brand, known for its iconic blue boxes since 1937, is hoping to merge the cheesy comfort of mac with the savory flavors of pizza in its latest creation, Spork reports.
Unlike Kraft’s 2022 flavor boosters—which included a pizza packet that could be stirred into the classic mac—this release is a complete product on its own. There are no extra packets to mix in; the flavor comes baked into the boxed dinner. Kraft promises the new mac and cheese will deliver a creamy texture with a “garlic-y” punch and plenty of “Italian-style” seasoning.
The move is part nostalgia, part experiment. Pizza may seem simple, but its medley of tomato, cheese, and dough is tricky to bottle into a single bite. Kraft’s decades of mac and cheese experience, however, may give the company an edge in pulling off the fusion. Early reactions to the 2022 pizza flavor were mixed, with some calling it “kinda fun” and others begging, “please never do this again.” Fans are hoping this iteration will be a step up.

While the pasta truly tastes like pizza, I wish they dialed up the cheesiness. After all, what’s a good slice without a cheese pull?”
