*Kingsley Wray is a Jamaican-born singer and songwriter renowned for his fusion of roots reggae with themes of faith, purpose, and socially conscious storytelling. Originally from Saint Ann, Jamaica, Wray began his musical development at Iona High School in Saint Mary and gained early experience performing on the Cool One Sound System in Runaway Bay. Following his studies at Brown’s Town Community College, he started his professional career as a resident vocalist in hotel bands along Jamaica’s north coast, releasing his debut single “Love Struck” in the 1990s.
It was in the year 2000 that Wray relocated to the United Kingdom, where his artistic journey took on deeper spiritual dimensions after his baptism and active participation at Rye Lane Chapel in Peckham. His discography includes the debut album “Chemistry,” “Send Down the Rain” under his KA1 Productions imprint, and “Master and Friend” (2016), produced by Calvin Smith. Further collaborations, such as the singles “Revival” and “Judgement Day” (2021) produced by Glen Browne, have garnered positive critical acclaim.
A prolific and intentional songwriter, Wray’s recent works have received multiple nominations for Reggae Song of the Year. His track “Spirit Love” secured the STEPFWD Reggae Song of the Year award, with additional nominations for “Big Dreams,” “Call on Him Now,” “Wrap Us,” and “We Will Always Forgive.” In January 2026, he released his first animated music video, “Have Mercy Father,” representing a significant creative achievement.

Wray has performed at notable venues and events, including Hootenanny Brixton, the Jamaican High Commission, Peckham Festival, Olby’s Margate Creative Hub, and the International Dub Gathering in Catalonia, Spain. He remains dedicated to producing thought-provoking, faith-inspired reggae music and collaborates closely with his son and producer, Jaja Wray, maintaining his commitment to art that uplifts, inspires, and communicates meaningful messages.
Wray composed “Have Mercy Father” in response to Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm that struck Jamaica on October 28, 2025. The hurricane was one of the most severe to impact the island, resulting in catastrophic damage, the destruction or impairment of over 100,000 structures, and the displacement of tens of thousands of residents. The storm also claimed numerous lives.
Motivated by a longstanding interest in cartoons and animation, and with encouragement from his sister, Wray chose to produce his debut music video in an animated format. He collaborated with comic artist and animator Tayo Fatunla, who directed the video to develop an animation that would complement the Christian music video. Furthermore, Kingsley is depicted as an animated character performing within the video.
