*Music executive L.A. Reid faces a trial next week where singer John Legend is expected to provide testimony as a witness, according to reports.
As we reported earlier, the case centers on allegations brought by Drew Dixon, a former record industry executive who claims Reid sexually assaulted her during their time working together in 2001. According to Page Six, Legend will serve as a witness during the proceedings. Dixon has accused Reid of assaulting her on two separate occasions while both were employed at Arista Records, where she held the position of vice president of A&R, and he served as president of the label.
Dixon further alleges that Reid sabotaged her professional advancement after she rejected his romantic overtures. She also claims that he blocked Legend’s signing to the label as another form of retaliation. Dixon maintains that her career never fully rebounded from the alleged retaliation. Reid has denied all her allegations.

Beyond the Reid case, Dixon accused Def Jam co-founder Russell Simmons of rape in 2017, stating the alleged assault occurred in 1997. She subsequently filed a defamation lawsuit against Simmons in 2024 after he accused her of lying.
In 2020, Dixon explained why she became an outspoken advocate for survivors of assault by influential men in the music industry. “I spent so much time trying not to be a rape victim that I actually was victimizing myself by trapping myself in this tiny little playable area of this tiny little corner of the gameboard or the desktop that was the only space that I allowed myself to operate in because I didn’t want to accidentally bleed out of my little secret cover-up for his sake, thinking it was for my sake too,” she said, per The Wrap.
