*For a few chaotic minutes, Ticketmaster appeared to tip its hand: a listing titled “The Boy Is Mine Tour” popped up, pairing R&B powerhouses Brandy and Monica with special guests Kelly Rowland and Muni Long. The since‑deleted page showed a Nov. 13 kickoff in North Carolina and promised presales beginning May 28.
Screenshots went viral on X (formerly Twitter) before the link vanished, leaving fans scrambling for answers, Vibe reports.
Brandy and Monica’s 1998 duet “The Boy Is Mine” remains an R&B touchstone, and the prospect of hearing it live with their solo hits, feels like a generational event. The chatter didn’t come out of nowhere. When Ariana Grande tapped the duo for her 2024 re‑imagining of “The Boy Is Mine,” reunification rumors reignited. Brandy’s brother Ray J urged the singers to “make history” by sharing a stage.
Brandy also seemed eager during an Extra interview, saying: “I hit [Monica] up so much talking about all the things that we could do together, tour, residency, everything. I really want that, Monica!”
Monica addressed the speculation in a social media post, urging Ray J to stop discussing the tour publicly without proper discussions and agreements. “I’ve been repeatedly contacted about interviews etc. where my name and tour possibilities are being discussed,” Monica wrote on social media. “I’ve not received any contracts or calls about said tour,” she added. “@rayj I’m kindly asking you to stop speaking on me in public! A private conversation would both be necessary and respectful! Brandy is a LEGEND! She’s one with an extensive back catalog that I deeply respect & a voice sent from heaven.”

Monica emphasized the need for respect and professionalism, suggesting that any further conversations should be private. She stressed that a potential tour should be approached as a shared effort rather than a competition between the two artists.
After Ariana released her version of “A Boy Is Mine,” she expressed deep appreciation for Brandy and Monica’s involvement. In an Instagram story, she wrote: “you have no idea what this means … [to] me. i am still convinced that i am dreaming it all.” In a follow-up post, the songstress added: “i am still crying.”
The original “The Boy Is Mine” dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks and solidified Brandy and Monica’s place in music history. In a 2024 interview on Apple Music 1’s “The Zane Lowe Show,” Grande shared her excitement about reimagining the classic track, calling it a “bad girl anthem.”
“I’ve always wanted to reimagine that song in some kind of way,” Grande said. “There is a large group of my fans that really — they do love a bad girl anthem.”
Meanwhile, Brandy and Monica have not acknowledged the Ticketmaster slip. Industry observers caution that pages can be test placeholders rather than finalized plans.
