*Longtime radio and television personality Big Tigger is facing serious legal trouble after being arrested in Georgia on charges of aggravated battery and cruelty to children.
The former “Rap City” host, whose real name is Darian Morgan, was arrested June 20 in Fulton County and later released the same day on a $10,000 bond, according to court records obtained by USA TODAY.
Morgan, 53, was charged with aggravated battery, a felony, and third-degree cruelty to children, a misdemeanor. Bond was set at $9,000 for the battery charge and $1,000 for the child cruelty charge.
The allegations stem from an incident that reportedly occurred on June 9. Prosecutors have not yet issued a formal indictment, and authorities have released few details about the circumstances surrounding the case.
Court documents identify Alicia Brown, Morgan’s wife, as the alleged victim.
Court Imposes Strict Restrictions
As part of the conditions of his release, Morgan has been ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with Brown, her family members or close associates.
The court order prohibits contact by phone, mail, email, social media or through third parties. Morgan is also required to leave immediately if he encounters Brown and must remain at least 200 yards away from her.
The restrictions remain in place while the case moves through the legal system.
According to court records, Morgan is permitted a single supervised visit to the residence he shared with Brown to collect personal belongings. The visit must take place in the presence of a law enforcement officer.
The pair welcomed a son in March 2025; a detail reflected in the court order’s provision allowing limited third-party communication between the couple for visitation-related matters.
Arrest Follows Earlier Investigation
Morgan’s arrest comes weeks after reports surfaced that he was the subject of an investigation involving an alleged assault that reportedly left Brown injured.
Earlier this month, TMZ reported that authorities were investigating the veteran broadcaster in connection with the incident.
Morgan publicly denied wrongdoing at the time.
Speaking on his radio show, he said that “these allegations and accusations that have been circulating are false.”
Court records do not indicate whether the investigation referenced in those reports is directly connected to the charges filed against him on June 20.
As of Tuesday, prosecutors had not publicly announced additional details about the allegations.
A Familiar Voice in Hip-Hop Media
Morgan became a household name among hip-hop fans during his years as host of BET’s influential music video program “Rap City.”
The Baltimore native later built a successful career in radio and television, becoming a prominent voice in urban media and entertainment.
Over the years, he has remained a visible figure at major industry events and award shows while continuing his work as a radio personality.
Just days before his arrest, Morgan attended the 2025 BET Awards in Los Angeles.
Morgan has not publicly addressed the charges. However, one day after his release, he shared a cryptic message on Instagram that read, “Life is a cruel teacher… she loves to give you the test first, and the lesson later…”
He captioned the post, “Ohhhh but you gone learn…..”

What Happens Next
The case remains in its early stages.
Because prosecutors have not yet secured an indictment, it remains unclear when Morgan could next appear in court or whether additional charges may be filed.
Under the American legal system, criminal charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
For now, Morgan remains free on bond while authorities continue the legal process.
