*Jada Pinkett Smith is headed back to television.
The actress will follow up her one-season run on Fox’s “Gotham” with a starring role in ABC’s upcoming drama pilot “Murder Town.”
Jada plays a beautiful and complicated prosecutor who makes history as Wilmington, Delaware’s, first African-American district attorney. There, she finds herself confronted by old loyalties and loves as well as a shocking revelation about her murdered husband and a polarizing, racially charged case that threatens to burn her and her city to the ground.
The project, developed at A+E Studios, will also feature the actress as an executive producer through her company with husband Will Smith, Overbrook Entertainment.
“Murder Town” will be written by Barry Schindel (“Intelligence,” “Castle”) and is based on an original script by Rob Fresco (“Crossing Jordan,” “Heroes,” “Touch,” “How to Get Away With Murder”).
