*Why is Donald Trump turning political allies into political enemies? Not only are Canada and Mexico neighbors to the United States, but they also are trade agreement partners.
When it comes to economics, nobody can win alone. There has to be a network that allows currency – also known as money – to be exchanged for goods and services.
Corporations in the United States could just sell to Americans and each other and have limited growth. They chose to expand and do business with other countries, including Canada and Mexico.
But Trump has gone out of his way to socially, politically and economically ridicule countries that are our neighbors and are supposed to be our allies.

He erroneously claimed Mexicans are to blame for most of the crime in the United States. He wrongly claimed Canada is mostly to blame for the fentanyl drug abuse in the United States and now he is taking everyone on a roller coaster ride of tariff threats.
Today tariffs are on, and the next day tariffs are off. It’s a manic-depressive display of incompetence.
Trump claimed he imposed tariffs because other countries have bullied the United States with bad trade agreements. Some of those agreements Trump is responsible for getting the United States into. He creates problems then plays the hero that comes to the rescue.
He never expected Canada or Mexico to fight back with their own counter-tariffs. Just like most bullies when you stand up to them, they back down. When it comes to Russia, somehow, it’s different.
