*Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X has broken his silence after a tumultuous arrest in Studio City, Los Angeles, where he faced four felony charges. The 26-year-old “Old Town Road” artist, born Montero Hill, was detained early Thursday morning following reports of a nude man acting erratically.
Viral videos captured Lil Nas X roaming the streets at 4 AM, initially wearing only underwear and cowboy boots, engaging with passersby, and at one point balancing a traffic cone on his head. As TMZ reports, he told onlookers he was heading to a party. Another clip showed him fully nude, shouting Nicki Minaj’s “Monster” verse as cars passed by.
When LAPD officers attempted to intervene, the situation escalated. Authorities allege Lil Nas X became combative, charging at officers and injuring at least three. After a brief hospitalization for a possible overdose, he was booked into Van Nuys jail, where he remained over the weekend without bail. While detained, he reportedly kept a low profile, avoiding disruptions.
On Monday, Lil Nas X pleaded not guilty to three counts of battery with injury on a peace officer and one count of resisting an executive officer during his arraignment. He was released on $75,000 bail, though a conviction could lead to up to five years in prison.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman emphasized the gravity of the charges, stating, “Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety. Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be.”
Hours after his release, the “Montero” star took to Instagram Stories to address fans, saying, “Your girl is going to be OK y’all. OK? She’s going to be alright, she’s going to be alright. Sh-t. That was f-cking terrifying. That was terrifying! That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
The case is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on September 15.
