*Tory Lanez’s sentencing hearing in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting will resume Tuesday morning in Los Angeles.
The hearing got underway on August 7 and Megan did not show up in person but gave a pre-written statement for District Attorney Kathy Ta to read during the proceedings.
“Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace,” Megan said in a statement. “Slowly but surely, I’m healing and coming back, but I will never be the same.”
Court reporter Meghann Cuniff also shared takeaways from Megan’s statement on her Twitter page.
“Megan said she struggled with whether to attend in person,” Cuniff wrote, Hot New Hip Hop reports.
Important: Judge Herriford said he believes Lanez’s actions after the shooting, the social media posts and harassment of Megan, are a major aggravating factor in his sentence. He says he won’t consider lack of remorse, but he says considering the post-shooting actions are similar

“Her absence should be seen as her preserving her mental well-being. She said since Tory shot her, ‘I’ve not experienced a single day of [peace].’ ‘He lied to anyone that would listen,’ Megan said of Lanez.
Megan testified during the trial that she was walking away from an SUV when Lanez shot at the back of her feet during an argument in the summer of 2020.
Per AP News, prosecutors are seeking a 13-year sentence for the 31-year-old artist (born Daystar Peterson) after being convicted of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
In her statement, Megan said Lanez has shown no remorse and “blamed the system, blamed the press, and as of late has tried to take advantage of his childhood trauma.”
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford said he will take into account Lanez’s charitable contributions and glowing character statements made about him by family, friends, and peers.
Rapper Iggy Azalea wrote a letter to the judge pleading for leniency, SandraRose.com reports.
