*Will Smith is reportedly is developing a “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” spinoff under he and wife Jada’s “cross platform” company Westbrook.

The “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” originally aired on NBC from September 10, 1990 to May 20, 1996. The show stars  Smith as a fictionalized version of himself, a street-smart teenager from West Philadelphia who is sent to live with his wealthy uncle and aunt in their Bel Air, California.

There was talk of a series reboot with an all-new cast and Smith was rumored to EP the project. But when he was asked about it three years ago, Will was incredibly blunt with his answer, telling: E! When EUR caught up with Alfonso Ribeiro in 2015, he confirmed that he was not involved with any talks about a series revival/reboot. He also noted that “Without James Avery, you have no Fresh Prince of Bel Air.”

Avery played Smith’s rich uncle on the series. He died December 31, 2013, at the age of 68, from complications following open heart surgery. Ribeiro played Will’s cousin, Carlton.

“I’m not involved with it in any way. I don’t have any real information on it. My position on it is, we stopped filming The Fresh Prince of Bel Air because we felt like we could no longer make great episodes, so we stopped. I’m not a big fan of making TV show reboots,” Ribeiro explained to EUR in an exclusive interview. “I feel like, why don’t we just make a new show and not call it The Fresh Prince of Bel Air? Simply because, without James Avery, you have no Fresh Prince of Bel Air. He was the backbone of that show. Since his passing, there’s simply no reason to do it. Let’s let great creativity of the past remain just there.”

Earlier this year, Will released of a line of limited edition throwback Fresh Prince merch, that included keychains, hats, notebooks, and numerous multi-packs of shirts.

Last week, the 51-year-old released a unisex athletics collection inspired by the hit 1990s sitcom. According to Complex, “the 26-piece range, dubbed Bel-Air Athletics, includes the Reversible Academy Track Jacket with a bold paisley print, a heat-reactive tie-dye graphic tee, UV-reactive T-shirts that change from white to yellow when exposed to sunlight, and a selection of branded sweats,” the outlet writes. There’s also accessories, such as embroidered hats, a backboard phone ring, socks, and a gym bag.
