Mel B Unable to Pay Back Taxes Amid Divorce Drama with Stephen Belafonte

*Mel B is reportedly unable to pay her back taxes amid the ongoing divorce battle with Stephen Belafonte… as it’s estimated the ex-couple owe thousands.

The Spice Girls star and her ex owe between $350,000 and $650,000 to the IRS just for 2017.

But according to the Daily Mail, Mel has been unable to keep up with her recent payments.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Mel’s “America’s Got Talent” paychecks are now being garnished, meaning money to pay her bills is automatically being deducted before she receives her salary.

As a result of the extra costs of her long divorce battle, Mel B. is struggling financially.

She said in the documents: “I do not have the financial capabilities at this point to pay for these community property debts.”

Mel has been a judge on AGT since 2013 but is concerned she won’t be asked back after the current season ends in September.

She explained: “I am currently a judge on the NBC television show, America’s Got Talent. I am currently in contract until the end of October 2018. I do not know if I will be asked back as a Judge on America’s Got Talent or if they will renew my contract…

“My current state of financial affairs is of utmost concern due to the fact that Stephen and I have immense tax debts and have been unable to repay those debts.”

Meanwhile, recent claims in court documents made by her one-time friend Derek Craig Daniel state that Mel had ‘repeatedly told [him] that everyone including her would be better off if Stephen was in jail or dead,’ during a February 28 chat at a restaurant, The Blast previously reported.

Daniel said, “I found the statements to be alarming and it was obvious to me that Melanie was soliciting me to either harm or find someone to help her harm Stephen” amid their costly, messy divorce.

Belafonte currently is forced to keep at least 100 yards away from Mel B after the court issued her a temporary restraining order.
