‘Late Night’s’ Amber Ruffin Destroys ‘Roseanne’: ‘It’s Better Than Ever…At Being Racist’

*Comedian and “Late Night with Seth Meyers” writer Amber Ruffin railed against the rebooted “Roseanne” during Thursday’s broadcast, declaring the popular show is “better than ever at being racist.”

In a segment called “Amber’s Minute of Fury,” Ruffin zeroed in on last week’s “tired-ass episode” dealing with Islamophobia, where Roseanne Barr’s Trump-supporting character suspected her new Muslim neighbors were terrorists…until they were kind enough to loan her their WiFi password. Later in the episode, Roseanne defended her Muslim neighbor against a racist grocery store clerk, supposedly showing her growth.

“Now, let me tell you one of the bajillion reasons why this episode was poison,” began Ruffin.

“She didn’t like these people until they proved to her that they were one of the ‘good ones’ by giving her their WiFi password, so what would have happened in this episode if they had been mean to her, as was their right to do? She’d have called the cops and they’d have gone to jail. That’s what the f**k what. And that’s what’s wrong with this episode. The minorities had to prove themselves to her. That’s a dangerous mentality and it isn’t limited to ‘Roseanne.’”
