*Mike Epps came under fire over the weekend for bringing a live kangaroo on stage during his show in Detroit on Friday (03-31-17).
The video that circulated of the event shows him dancing with the animal while appearing to egg the kangaroo on by pulling it by its harness. See video below.
A man is also seen picking up the animal and carrying it around the stage. Some attendees and Epps’ social media followers were not pleased with the animal addition to the show.
Epps initially defended the move in a now-deleted Instagram post, captured by The Shade Room (see below):

Now Mike is apologizing for his latest controversy, as the backlash is fierce. He took to his Instagram to announce that he’s also donating money to a foundation that helps save kangaroos.
He writes:
Look I wanna sincerely apologize to everybody ,I don’t own the kangaroo and did not mean any harm to the animal it got outta hand and Iam sorry !and like I said I will be donating money to this foundation save the kangaroos ! Sorry if I offedend anybody I love animals sense I was a kid I had dogs my whole life !!#imadeabadmistake I keep taking down my post because of the back lash Iam getting!! thank you for forgiveness !!
Meanwhile, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals isn’t laughing at or with the funnyman. A rep for PETA responded to Mike’s #epicfail animal abuse stunt :
“Traumatic situations can be fatal to kangaroos — who are not hardy animals — and this individual was subjected to a great deal of stress by being dragged in front of a boisterous crowd and forced to ‘dance,’” the PETA rep told Page Six on Monday. “PETA hopes the U.S. Department of Agriculture will conduct an immediate investigation and that the backlash over this stunt will remind all comedians that there’s nothing funny about cruelty to animals.”
