*Lady Gaga’s former stylist-turned-designer Brandon Maxwell dressed the First Lady for Tuesday’s state dinner at the White House, and from the look on President Obama’s face, the choice had his seal of approval.
Michelle Obama chose a custom, strapless ivory gown by the designer, which she accented with drop earrings.
“A very proud moment,” wrote Maxwell on Instagram. “It has been an incredible honor for me and my team to create this dress for the First Lady. Strong and elegant, she is the embodiment of the woman that inspires me to create, and a role model for women all over the globe. I am very thankful for this opportunity.”
After launching his collection last September, Brandon’s star has been on the rise – with one of his designs on the Oscars red carpet (via Gaga), being named a finalist for the 2016 LVMH prize and then officially added to the CFDA’s roster.
