Viola Davis and Julius Tennon Renew Vows After 13-Years of Marriage

*Award-winning actress Viola Davis married actor Julius Tennon in 2003, and they adopted a newborn baby girl – Genesis, in October 2011. Davis is stepmother to Tennon’s two sons from a previous relationships, and 13 years later, the loving couple are still going strong while balancing family and Viola’s stellar career in Hollywood.

Davis and Tennon said “I do” (for the second time) on Valentine’s Day by renewing their vows, and Viola looked simply darling in a cream-colored halter dress while Julius complimented his beautiful bride with an all-white suit.

Viola & Julius“We are most alive when we’re in love,”  she captioned the photo of their special day on Instagram. As ET notes, Davis also shared a photo of 5-year-old Genesis, dressed in neon pink tutu, and joyful about her parent’s vow renewal ceremony.

“Mommy and Daddy are getting married again today!!!!!!!YAY!!!!” the actress captioned the Instagram pic. Viola announced that she was planning the ceremony on Feb. 11. “Renewing vows with the love of my life soon!” she wrote alongside an image of what looked like the ceremony plans.

Her “How to Get Away With Murder” co-stars attended the ceremony, including Jack Falahee, Karla Souza, Aja Naomi King and Matt McGorry. Viola’s role as Annalise Keating on the ABC drama has earned her a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, the first for any woman of color. The role also won her a SAG Award in 2015 and 2016. In 2012, Time named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Davis and Tennon founded the production company JuVee Productions, which produces shorts and features, including: “Lila and Eve” (2015), and the upcoming movie “Custody.”
