*Actress Cree Summer is embracing a new chapter in her life, one defined by self-awareness, empowerment, and the freedom to love on her own terms.
In a deeply personal conversation with YouTube sexologist Shan Boodram, the 55-year-old reflected on the evolution of her sex drive, the emotional aftermath of divorce, and the realities of dating as an older woman in Hollywood, SandraRose.com reports.
Known for her iconic role as the free-spirited Freddie Brooks on “A Different World,” Summer opened up about the loss of desire she experienced during her marriage to producer Angelo Pullen, whom she was married to from 2013 to 2022. Now, post-menopause and emotionally liberated, she shared that her sexuality has resurged in a way she hadn’t anticipated.
Summer admitted she had never initiated romance in the past but now finds excitement in the idea of pursuing someone herself. “I don’t think I’ve ever approached a man. I’ve never asked a man out,” she said. “I would love to have a husband and a real partner. Someone that we could get excited about the trials and the tribulations in life together. That would be great.”

Drawing a vivid analogy, she compared her marriage’s end to a worn-out car engine. “Who the f— wants to separate and divorce? But sometimes that old car ain’t gon’ run anymore… it’s run its f—— course literally.”
Cree also spoke candidly about staying in relationships past their expiration due to loneliness. “I think loneliness is probably the greatest culprit to get me into things where I could’ve probably looked at it and go ‘I know that ain’t gon’ work.’ But he drives a really nice car…”
While she embraces aging with confidence and feels more beautiful than ever, Summer acknowledged the unique invisibility women often face later in life.
“You do become a little more invisible the older you get as a woman, unfortunately. I spent a lot of my time being hemmed up in vanity, and now that I really can’t be, I’m, you know, I’m the second half of my life, and now I don’t care so much about what it looks like. But it’s hard in this town,” she told Shan.

“This is not a place where I have the opportunity. I don’t get asked out on a lot of dates. I never get asked out on dates. I don’t know if it’s being 55 in Los Angeles, or if it’s just a strange town, you know?” she added. “It’s a weird, counterintuitive feeling, because I actually feel more beautiful now than I have ever felt before. I feel like I’ve come into my face. I’ve come into my body. I’ve really come into my sense of style. So it’s weird to not be seen as much.
Still, she remains hopeful and open to love, viewing the next chapter as an opportunity to connect more authentically than ever before.
