*This month, Apple TV gathered the cast of “Pluribus,“ to share their thoughts on the science fiction drama.
The nine-episode series is a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness. Starring Rhea Seehorn (Carol) an author, who is one of only 13 people in the world immune to certain effects, in which an extraterrestrial virus has transformed all of humanity into a peaceful and content hive.
“She’s not mocking her fans or her writing because she doesn’t actually think they’re good or valued by them,” explained Seehorn about how her character would still be miserable even after winning an award. “It’s self-loathing. It’s one of the things the show explores – I’ll be happy when, dot, dot, dot. I’ll be successful when, dot, dot, dot. A real writer would write X, Y, Z. Tony Hale wrote a kid’s book about it, “Archibald’s Next Big Thing.” Carol not accepting what’s in front of her is the validation. And even if it’s not validation, it’s just the life you have. Like, live in it now. Like, you are a successful writer making a living and having a lovely life. She’d probably still be like, ‘whatever, it was an off year,’ or ‘it’s just part of,’ you know, ‘a trend or something.’

“Pluribus” is streaming on Apple TV, with new episodes dropping every Friday through December 26.
In addition to Seehorn, the series stars Karolina Wydra and Carlos Manuel Vesga, and guest stars Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte.
