*Dr. Umar Johnson, a figure known for stirring conversation with his unfiltered commentary, has once again become the center of attention. This time, he claims both his personal bank account and the account for his Frederick Douglass Marcus Garvey Academy have been frozen.
In a viral video, Johnson explained that the discovery came as he responded to a text from a friend asking for financial assistance. Ironically, Johnson found himself in need of aid instead, The Root reports.
“For my loyal supporters out there, if you can spare a few dollars, so I can take care of Queen Mother Ifantunde and myself, until my bank account is frozen or cancelled so I can get my money back and open up a new account, please hit my Apple Pay or hit my PayPal,” he said in the plea posted online.
He stated that the freeze followed a hacking attempt, and with his finances inaccessible, he is unsure how he’ll manage bills during the bank’s investigation into the alleged fraud.
Despite Johnson’s explanation, not everyone is convinced. Some questioned the logistics of his situation, particularly his lack of backup financial options.

“The Prince of pan africanism trust colonizers with all his money in cash? No money in an African bank? No credit cards? No family? No friends? Nothing to pawn off? No emergency stash? No savings account? Even hacked, he can walk into the bank and extract cash in person?” one Instagram user posted.
Critics also pointed out the timing of his plea. “Dr Umar you know damn well asking for money from black folks at the end of the month Is a 80% no,” a TikTok user commented.
Despite the setback, Johnson remains optimistic. “Although Leo season is off to a rocky start, brothers and sisters, we will overcome,” he said, signaling his determination to resolve the issue.
