*We caught up with Wendall Pierce to dish about the fourth and final season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” which debuted June 30 on Prime Video.

This final season, per the press release, “finds the titular character on his most dangerous mission yet: facing an enemy both foreign and domestic.”

“As the new CIA Acting Deputy Director, Jack Ryan is tasked with unearthing internal corruption, and in doing so, uncovers a series of suspicious black ops that could expose the vulnerability of the country,” the synopsis continued. “As Jack and the team investigate how deep the corruption runs, he discovers a far-worse reality—the convergence of a drug cartel with a terrorist organization—ultimately revealing a conspiracy much closer to home and testing our hero’s belief in the system he has always fought to protect.”

“Jack Ryan” stars John Krasinski as Jack Ryan, Pierce as James Greer, Michael Kelly as Mike November, and Betty Gabriel as CIA Acting Director Elizabeth Wright, with Abbie Cornish returning as Cathy Mueller. Joining the cast this season are Michael Peña as Domingo Chavez and Louis Ozawa as Chao Fah.

“We wanted to do a season that was exciting and action-packed…but also, really culminate these characters, these relationships in a way that would be satisfying to the audience,” Krasinski told Reuters.

Speaking to Collider about the final season, Krasinski said … “I’m personally extremely proud of it. I think that it’s a bittersweet thing, the end of this show, because at the end of the show we wanted the last season to be exciting and thrilling for the audience, but we also wanted to, for the people who have been with us since Season 1, acknowledge the culmination of these relationships and these characters in a very genuine way that would mean something to them so that they were involved in saying goodbye as well,” he explained.

He added, “I think that we pulled that off. That was really, really exciting and clearly reflective of our interactions in real life. I mean, saying goodbye to these guys, luckily I don’t have to in my real life— I don’t know, Michael, we’re on the fence. But it’s truly been the greatest experience of my career and life, to get to work with these guys.”

As the series comes to an end, we asked Wendall how he feels about bidding farewell to James Greer and the show as a whole. Check out what he had to say in the video below, and the insight the actor shared about his character’s surprising journey this season.
