Cause of Death Revealed for L.A. Model Nichole Coats | Video

*The cause of death has been revealed for the Black model who was found deceased inside her apartment in downtown Los Angeles last month.

Nichole Coats’, 32, drug-related death was deemed to be cocaine and ethanol toxicity, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, New York Post reports. Her body was found dead inside her apartment on Grand Avenue on Sept. 10, two days before another model, 31-year-old Maleesa Mooney, was found dead in her downtown L.A. apartment on Sept. 12.

When Coats last spoke with friends, she allegedly told them she was planning to go out on a date on Sept. 8. She didn’t respond to calls or texts in the following days, so her family visited her apartment complex and made a grisly discovery.

“I was so distraught… I just felt like everything was moving in slow motion. And I still am in shock… in denial that she’s not here,” her cousin, Sheniya Mason, said at the time Coats’ body was discovered, ABC7 reports.

“I’m devastated that it happened to Nicole. This is horrible… it’s like a dream, that my daughter’s going to walk through the door and she’s not. She’s gone,” Coats’ mother Sharon told ABC7.

“I’m just trying to piece everything together, but I still feel that something fishy is going on,” she added.

Meanwhile, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner, Mooney died of “homicidal violence.”

We reported previously via KTLA.com that Mooney’s body was found inside her unit at Skye at Bunker Hill luxury apartments on the 200 block of South Figueroa Street. Police initially launched an investigation to determine if there was a connection between Mooney’s death and that of Coats.
