Meet the Cast of ‘Love & Marriage: Detroit’ | EUR Video Exclusive

cast of Love & Marriage: Detroit

*We caught up with the cast of the new reality show “Love and Marriage: Detroit” which debuted on OWN on June 24.

The series hails from renowned reality producer and Detroit native Carlos King and introduces a new group of dynamic Black community members and leaders, this time from the “Comeback City” formerly known as the “Motor City.”

“Love & Marriage: Detroit” centers on a group of African American families with deep ties to Detroit who have decided to stay in the city and prove they can provide the best lives possible for their families in this community on a comeback, per press release.

“I love creating shows in cities where it doesn’t get a lot of shine in the world because they think all successful black folks live in Atlanta. Right? Child, they think we only go in Atlanta, honey,” King exclusively told EUR ahead of the series premiere. “So with Huntsville being successful, DC being successful, I wanted to select another town that I felt needed is just due and also give back to my hometown as well by putting some love into the City of Detroit And these three couples represent the new generation of Detroit. And when you look at the show as you saw the first episode, they’re entrepreneurs, they’re beautiful, but they also have a lot of messy stuff going on in their lives, that look, we like a little mess.”

In the premiere season, secrets and past deeds haunt the couples as relationship cracks are exposed, and issues surrounding faith, resentment, and broken lines of communication are tackled head-on, per the series synopsis.

Meet the cast below!

The Harrises

“Russell and Kolby Harris are a young couple who have been married three years, and share a two-year-old daughter. Because he considers himself head of household, Russell makes the decision to start attending divinity school before even consulting with his wife, and Kolby is feeling she should be included more in these important family decisions. She is the daughter of a pastor, and isn’t sure she wants to revisit that world for a second time as an adult,” per press release.

Check out what they had to say about the “Reality TV Curse” in our exclusive conversation with the couple below:

The Smiths

“Brandon and Kristina Bowman-Smith have been married 11 years and have two young daughters. The couple is going through marital woes with Brandon’s desire to become the Barry Gordy of 2023 with his showcase highlighting Detroit’s musical talent. But Kristina is strong in her faith and not always pleased when Brandon must go out to the clubs for his talent development business, which has been causing tension between them since they got married. Brandon is also holding a secret he doesn’t share with his wife, that he is working with a few new female artists in Detroit, but when Kristina finds this out…all hell breaks loose,” per press release.

The couple told us about what fans can expect this season on “Love and Marriage: Detroit” — and shared their thoughts on the “Reality TV Curse.” Watch the clip below:

The Thompsons

“Anthony and Dr. LaToya Thompson have been married 14 years and share two sons. Currently, Anthony works for touring company Live Nation, and is the owner of a production studio. In this household, LaToya is the breadwinner as a successful sports physical therapist and the owner of Opulence Wines, but you will never hear Anthony admit that,” per press release.
