Arrest Made in Killing of Brother of L.A. Lakers Legend Michael Cooper | Video

*An arrest has been made in connection to the fatal shooting of Mickey Cooper, the younger brother of former Los Angeles Lakers player Michael Cooper.

Mickey, 64, was shot on November 18 in a park Pasadena, California. Two days later, police arrested Aaron Miguel Conell, 24, on murder charges after uncovering evidence tying him to Cooper’s killing.

Pasadena Police Department said in a statement that Conell was “identified [as] a person of interest only a few hours after the homicide.”

In an interview with ABC 7, Michael Cooper said his brother was deeply loved by his family despite living a troubled life and battling drug addiction.

“We tried to help him all through this process,” he said. “And he chose to live this life, but that doesn’t mean that somebody can come take his life.”

Mickey was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in Pasadena’s Washington Park at 4 a.m. Saturday

Micheal said his bother “went about his life” and “didn’t bother anybody.”

According to Newsweek, the siblings played basketball together in the same park when they were children.

“For somebody to come take his life, [as if] that nobody loved him? He was loved by a lot of people,” Michael added.
