‘Buying Beverly Hills’ Star Brandon Graves on Making His Reality TV Debut | EUR Exclusive

*The latest entry into Netflix’s slate of reality real estate shows is “Buying Beverly Hills,” which gives a behind-the-scenes look into Mauricio Umansky’s brokerage, “The Agency.”

Fans of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” are familiar with Umansky and his wife, Kyle Richards. Among the cast working at The Agency is junior agent Brandon Graves. I spoke exclusively with Graves about how he got into reality TV.

The Phoenix, Arizona native and former professional dancer is relatively new to real estate; he fully transitioned into it in 2020 during the pandemic. While working as an assistant at The Agency, he noted that the owner noticed his hard work and that Graves was always one of the last to leave the office. When Umansky’s assistant said the office would be doing a reality show, Graves was urged to audition.

Graves admits he was a little nervous stepping into the world of reality TV. He said he had nothing to compare it to in real life, even though he is a fan of the “Real Housewives” franchise (his favorites being Potomac and Atlanta.) Nevertheless, Graves said did his “homework” to prepare for his reality television debut.

“Nobody can compare you and prepare you for this experience. Because nobody that I knew had done it. So, I just had to be myself. I watched a lot of reality TV, so I did my own work, and when the cameras came up, I did my best to best represent myself and tell my story,” he said.

Graves said his experience was much different than what’s typically expected in the reality TV space, as this is a show based on his occupation.

“I think it’s different for me because my show is based on my actual occupation, so I have things to lose. So, there’s only so far that I’m willing to go,” he explained. “It was about finding that balance and trying to be as comfortable as I could on camera. It took about two weeks for that to happen, but we eventually got through it.”
