*Gayle King once confronted 50 Cent at a black-tie gala about his disrespect toward her best friend, Oprah Winfrey.
According to Page Six, the confrontation went down at an event that was held in association with Bette Midler’s foundation. King reportedly approached the rapper to address his history of “talking sh*t” about the media mogul.
“She marched right up to me and basically said, ‘Why you talkin’ [expletive] about my girl?’” he recounts in his upcoming book, “Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter,” which drops April 28.
Fiddy told King he assumed Winfrey didn’t like him because she criticized rappers who promoted violence and misogyny.
“Listen, I’d love to be Oprah’s friend,” he said he told King. “But if we can’t be friends, could we at least be enemies?”

He says King arranged for him to dish with Winfrey’s on “Oprah’s Next Chapter” in 2012, and they settled their beef.
“Before meeting me, they had bought into the 50 Cent persona … Someone who got into beefs and drama because he just couldn’t help himself,” he writes. “But when I said, ‘At least let me be an enemy,’ they understood that when I got into a beef, it was never driven by emotion. Instead, I was moving off of strategy.”
Fast forward to 2020 and 50 Cent once again was back on the attack when he slammed King for her “CBS This Morning” piece following Kobe Bryant’s death where she talked about the NBA icon’s sexual-assault case.
Following the backlash over the segment, King said in an Instagram video, “I’ve been up reading the comments about the interview I did with Lisa Leslie about Kobe Bryant, and I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too. I am mortified. I am embarrassed and I am very angry. Unbeknownst to me, my network put up a clip from a very wide-ranging interview, totally taken out of context, and when you see it that way, it’s very jarring.”
